Cover Songs You Love/Hate
So guys, how many covers have you heard that made you go "Wow, that was unnecessary" or "That was better than the original!"? This thread is dedicated to those moments... so post all your favorite/least favorite cover versions of songs from any genre here! They don't have to be a legit recorded version or anything, they can be live (which usually are the best )

Re: Cover Songs You Love/Hate
Does anyone get super annoyed when an artist covers a song that has already been a HUGE hit? (Ex. Truly Madly Deeply, I Knew I Loved You - Two of the most successful pop songs ever) I feel like it's simply for the money at that point.

Re: Cover Songs You Love/Hate
My favorite Kid Rock song is Purple Sky, and it's a cover of a song from an indie country band. This other band called it by a different name, but Kid added new verses and his version is a lot better. A lot of his songs are covers and he's added new stuff to them, and he almost always does it better that he original artist because it makes it true "Kid Rock" song
There for awhile Toby Keith put cover tracks on his albums with his other band, Incognito Bandito. A couple of times they covered Waylon Jennings (Waymore's Blues and High Time You Quit Your Lowdown Ways). He sounds a lot like Waylon when he does Waylon's songs. I also liked his cover of "Sundown"
Waylon Jennings did a cover of Johnny Cash's I Walk The Line, but he did it Waylon style. I love it and I like it better than Johnny Cash's version. It sounds like a whole new song

Re: Cover Songs You Love/Hate
^ I adore it when an artist makes it their own song and actually puts legit emotion into it... like you said with Waylon's Johnny cover... he did it Waylon style. I hate it when an artist just does the song because they liked it or they wanted to ride the fame mobile because the song was a mega hit already in another genre or in the past.
