Sheryl Crow
I've been listening to a lot of Sheryl Crow lately. Anyone else here like her?

I like a couple of her songs, but I've always been bothered by her lack of emotion. I've always liked "Everyday Is A Winding Road"... her voice doesn't bother me too much in that one and I like the lyrics.

She's not my favorite vocalist, but when I was listening to a 90s weekend on one of my local stations I realized she has quite a few songs that I like.

ME TOO! Oh my goodness buddy. They played her a little too much, but it reintroduced me to her songs so that was a plus.

I got her Detours and Globe Sessions albums in the mail this week. I had several of her other albums before then. She is the only female singer I really care for all that much

I have massive issues with female singers. I am annoyed really easily with female vocalists. (Natalie Imbruglia, Sara Evans and Delta Goodrem being the exceptions)

Overall I would rather listen to a male voice. I find the male voice for pleasant in general. Most female singers just sing about stuff I don't care anything about

I completely agree! It takes a lot more for me to be annoyed with a male voice, but I am extremely easily annoyed by females. I find that a lot of female vocalists only sing about men and break ups or revenge. There is a theme to female vocalists and I've never connected much to their music. If I find a female singer who writes her own music and has something OTHER to talk about than the typical issues I'll pay attention. Or if they say it with more originality and depth than the typical popular female singers. I connect more with male vocalists, even their lyrics for some reason. They're more universal to me.

I find a good male voice to be preferable to the best female voice. I find the male voice, at least some of them, to be very soothing. But a lot of times a female voice just grates on my nerves.
I'm too old for songs about boyfriends, not too keen on songs that celebrate husbands and marriage, don't care for songs about abuse, and have no interest in songs that tell me how mistreated I am as a woman. These are the main themes you hear from most female artists

Re: Sheryl Crow
I always find the "I prefer male voices over female voices" or "I prefer female voices over male voices" thing interesting, lol. When people explain why like you guys just did, I understand what you're saying, but I can't begin to relate. For me, I have an intense love for vocals (always have) and as long as I like the sound of the voice and the arrangement of the song, I really don't have a preference when it comes to male singers vs female singers. I love strong vocals with lots of projection and vibrato. But I'm capable of liking softer, toned down voices as well as long as the singer can carry a tune. I just adore vocals and harmonies in general.

Haha you nailed it! That is seriously the mass majority of the themes of female artists... not for all, but most. I get real sick of the whole "i'm so mistreated" theme. I can't stand songs about boyfriends. I find male voices extremely calming and soothing. If I'm in a bad mood or feeling stressed the LAST thing I'll do is listen to a female.

Oh I'm a fan of vocals in general too, but my ears are so sensitive to female vocals and I really have issues with them. I love a lot of SONGS by females so I tolerate them, but for the most part if you look at my favorite songs and artists you'll notice how the mass majority are males and I don't do that on purpose. It's who I flock to. I can't listen to females all the time, like my mood has to be right, but I can listen to male vocalists whenever no matter what mood I'm in.
